The other day I found a very large black moth on the door of my studio. I hadn't opened my door all day and chose not to disturb the moth for most of the day's remainder. It was very curious. My mother in law was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma, stage four, originating in the gall bladder - a very rare and aggressive cancer. It had spread all over her abdomen and it was very sudden and shocking news. When I saw this moth, we had not yet learned that she decided not to continue her chemo regime. It turns out that a black moth in the house symbolizes death in many cultures. I don't have a lot of experience with death or cancer. This is breaking my heart in ways I never imagined. We still have a tumultuous road ahead of us. This is many things to me; surreal, painful, shocking. I am angry, sad, and scared all at the same time. I can only imagine what type of emotions are battling in my husband's heart right now. Our house has turned into this quiet struggle through each day. I just want this to end. I want her pain to end. I want to go back and live a fuller life with her. I want my son to remember her. I want so many things. That moth knew. It tried to warn me.

It has been a long time since I have really been active on DeviantArt. Life has been busy, to say the least. Regardless, I have rediscovered my creativity over the last few months and I am ready to share again.
